Kon-Boot (aka kon boot, konboot) is an application which will silently bypass the authentication process of Windows based operating systems. Without overwriting your old password! In other words you can login to your Windows profile without knowing your password. Easy to use and excellent for tech repairs, data recovery and security audits. Fast, tiny and gets your job done!

General requirements:Pentium III compatible processor, 100MB free space on the hard drive. USB flash drive (prefered USB pendrive size is 16GB), keyboard. Compatibile BIOS version. Windows system is required for installer to run. USB flash drive is required for the UEFI version to work. Internet connection is required for the installer to work. Kon-boot can be only installed by using the original installer. One kon-boot license permits the user to install kon-boot on only one USB device (USB pendrive).

Not supported:Disk encryption, secure boot must be disabled., tablets and tablet hybrids, multiple operating systems installed on target computer, 3rd party loaders are supported, kernel debuggers, virtualization software (VMware, QEMU, VirtualBox) is not supported. CD and Floppy versions are deprecated.

Since version 2.7 kon-boot CD version is no longer available. We have left the old .iso images just for compatibility purposes. All versions starting from kon-boot 2.7 can be installed only on USB media.

Important:Since kon-boot 2.7 there is a new feature present called automatic powershell script execution. This feature is present only in COMMERCIAL LICENSES (UEFI mode only (Windows 8 x64 / Windows 10 x64)).

Since version 2.7 kon-boot can be installed only by using our GUI installer. Internet connecton is required for installer to work. Please note that all other installation options like CD installation are depracated (older kon-boot version is included in the package for compatibility reasons or in case of temporary lack of Internet connection).

Starting from version 2.7 (commercial edition only) kon-boot allows user to run automatic powershell script just after the boot of target operating system. Powershell script of user choice is being run with full system rights. This gives excellent and very powerful opportunity for the forensics team to gather all the necessary data from the target system. Right now the feature works only in UEFI mode and on Windows 8 / Windows 10 systems (x64).

Personal licenses does not offer online authorization bypass on Windows 10 systems. However user can still access the system as local administrator. In fact in the kon-boot v2.5 administrator account can be added automatically, as presented in the following scenario:

If you account is an online (live) Windows 10 account and you have a commercial Kon-Boot license (commercial kon-boot licenses allow to bypass Windows 10 online/live passwords (UEFI)) you can bypass the Windows HELLO authorization as well.

Please note: You may only see this screen when you are booting from external media ie. Kon-Boot USB. This is because of the TPM chip (Trusted Platform Module) which will detect changes to the system boot sequence. This will lead to change in the TPM's PCR values, and in the result TPM will not unseal the VMK (Volume Master Key).

Please verify you have administrator access on the Windows installation machine, the lock error may be caused by either lack of administrator rights or different process (like antivirus) blocking access to usb device.

If you have purchased Kon-Boot for macOS/OSX this is the right place for you. If you have purchased kon-boot 2in1 version and you are looking for the installation tutorial please see the Kon-Boot for Windows GUIDE (please note that as stated on our website kon-boot 2in1 can be installed only on Windows).

Kon-Boot (aka kon boot, konboot) for Apple Mac OSX systems allows the user to login into the system without knowing the previous passwords and user names. Kon-Boot will either allow you to login into selected account without knowing the password (bypass mode) or it will create new "root" account for you (new-account mode) from which you will be able to change other users passwords as needed. Have you lost your password? Kon-Boot can help!

Please note that CD version is no longer available since kon-boot v1.7 (the old one (1.6) is still included in the archive). Internet connection is required for the installed to work. Kon-boot can be only installed using the original installer. One kon-boot license permits the user to install kon-boot on only one USB device (USB pendrive).

Important - if you have purchased 2in1 version:Kon-Boot 2in1 can be only installed on USB thumb drive (there is no .ISO in the package). Windows system is required for the installation. Please see Kon-Boot for Windows GUIDE for details.

Bypass mode allows you to login into any selected account without knowing the password. All changes are only made to virtual memory meaning all changes caused by kon-boot are gone after computer reboots.

If you open the Kon-Boot ISO file with a supported archiver such as 7-Zip or PowerArchiver, you will see a [BOOT] folder with a file called Bootable_1.44M.img. This would mean that the author of Kon-Boot created a bootable CD ISO image from a bootable floppy. So in order to create a bootable Kon Boot USB, the trick is to use the floppy image instead of the ISO file. Here are 6 different ways to create a Kon Boot USB and hopefully one of the methods below will work for you.

There are quite a number of tools to assist in creating bootable USB drives but UNetbootin is the only one that supports floppy images rather than just ISO. First insert the USB flash drive that you want to install Kon-Boot and format it as FAT32 file system. Then download UNetbootin from the link below and run it. Select the Diskimage radio button, click the drop down menu and select Floppy.

Then browse for the Kon-Boot floppy disk image which is FD0-konbootv1.1-2in1.img. Confirm the drive letter of your USB flash drive and click the OK button. Unetbootin will now start copying the files and then install a Syslinux bootloader to your USB drive. Restart your computer and boot it up with the USB flash drive. If you get it right, you should see a UNetbootin screen with 10 seconds countdown to select Default from the list.

If the first method fails, you can try downloading the modified version of syslinux.cfg and chain.c32 files and copy them to your USB drive overwriting the ones created by Unetbootin earlier. IronGeek discovered that on certain computers with multiple hard drives, Kon-Boot takes over the first hard drive when booting from USB created by Unetbootin. So he modified the syslinux configuration file to load up Kon-Boot first and then allowing you to try booting in to other hard drives.

When you have downloaded kon-boot-all.zip and UNetbootin open up kon-boot-all.zip.In kon-boot-all.zip open the folder "kon-boot-all *" then double-click the CD Kon-Boot zip file, example: CD-konboot-v1.1-2in1.zip. When it asks for a password type "kon-boot" to get access to the folder with the .iso file.Open the folder appearing and extract the CD Kon-Boot iso file, example: CD-konboot-v1.1-2in1.iso to your desktop.Start UNetbootin as we downloaded before and choose "Disk image". Then click the button with the three dots and locate your CD Kon-Boot iso file. When you are finished doing that choose the USB drive you want it to be installed on. Click ok and see it do magic.Your done you sucsessfully installed Kon-Boot on your USB stick.

It is a great tutorial, I have been using Kon-boot on CD for about 4 years and maintaining disc scratch free is a pain. I did follow your tutorial but was not successful when trying to bypass the password. The bootloader has gotten stuck on the grey loading screen with the count down. It tends to cycle it self over and over after it counts down to 1, never loading onto kon-boot or windows in that fact. I have read on several forum a quick fix for the problem. When loading the kon-boot image do not choose "ISO" instead choose "Floppy" which should work pass the cycle boot problem and into kon-boot and windows. 2ff7e9595c
